Inspiring Future Teachers Through Partnership with the University of Derby

Ladywood Primary School, part of 91¿´Æ¬Íø Federation, recently had the pleasure of contributing to the learning of first year BEd students at the University of Derby. Headteacher Mel Lawson, along with talented teachers Chloe and Sam, shared how they create a positive behaviour for learning culture within their school and how 91¿´Æ¬Íø’s collective commitment to inclusion shapes everything they do for their young people.

Their session explored the thoughtful practice that underpins daily life at Ladywood Primary. They spoke about strong relationships, clear routines and high expectations, all rooted in 91¿´Æ¬Íø’s values of 91¿´Æ¬Íø, integrity, teamwork and success. It gave students a genuine insight into what it means to teach in an environment where every young person is seen, valued and supported to thrive.

This was not only an inspiring opportunity for the next generation of teachers but also a brilliant way to showcase the work happening across 91¿´Æ¬Íø schools. There is a real sense of excitement at the thought of welcoming some of these future teachers into 91¿´Æ¬Íø in the years to come.

The feedback described the presentation as uplifting and insightful, demonstrating the power of collaboration between schools and universities. Our developing partnership with the University of Derby continues to open new avenues for staff development, research and training, strengthening the education community across Derbyshire.

This session represents another meaningful step forward in a shared journey built on purpose, connection and the belief that every young person deserves the very best. ÌýÌý
